I’m just going to say it, I love Jesus and how he loves me back even more. I can read something over and over again and get something new from it each time I read it. Jesus I thank you for the way you can teach me and all of us new lessons in old stories, thank you for that.
I was reading a devotional and came across Isaiah 53:12 (NLT).
I will give him the honors of a victorious soldier,
because he exposed himself to death.
He was counted among the rebels.
He bore the sins of many and interceded for rebels.
I have been called a rebel throughout my entire life, and I have carried the title with with a sense of pride as I fought against all authority. Looking back I wasted so much time fighting against the wrong things, instead of standing strong for the right things. That lead me to Google “Rebel Jesus” and I came across a great song I’ve heard before by Bebo Norman (didn’t know Jackson Browne sang it first). I also came across a great series by Mike Slaughter called The Rebel Jesus. I sat there and soaked it all in, I encourage you to spend 30 minutes listening to the wisdom of this man. One thing he said near the beginning caught my attention and it’s why I’ve already been in contact with him via email and will be reading his book as soon as it arrives. He speaks the language I hear coming from my heart, he’s one of my people!
“You are not saved by what you believe, you are saved by what you obey”
I hope to learn a lot from this guy, seems like a good one to have on my side, another teacher put in my path by Jesus who loves me dearly and wants me to learn as much as I can about him!
